BISHOP PEACE ON MEDICAL MISSION TO IDDAH
… Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching… and preaching the gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all
manner of sickness and … disease among the people” (Matt. 4:23).
Following the example of her master, savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, Bishop Peace Okonkwo in December 2009,
took both the gospel and medical services to the women of Iddah, a rural community in Kaduna State, Nigeria.
It was a demonstration of God’s love as she took a team of medical experts,
eight doctors and three nurses to screen Iddah women for cervical cancer.
Iddah is 15 minutes drive from Suleja.
The village head of Iddah had sought and received the consent of the husbands to allow their wives to be screened.
900 women turned up, but the medical team was able to screen 500 women.
The medical report showed that some of the women had early stage cervical cancer and were referred
for treatment. The advantage of early detection is that treatment is cheaper and healing is possible.
The village head was very grateful and wished that this charity work came earlier before some of the
women began to suffer this deadly disease.
On the entourage of Bishop Peace were Rev. Patience Obiakor, Rev. Bola Oke, Rev. Nnena Mbamara and
Rev. Ngozi Cole who interfaced for Bishop Peace to seek the village head’s consent for this medical mission.
The Pastor of TREM Iddah, Pasubo Kaura worked tirelessly to make this medical mission to Iddah a success.
He and his wife, are passionate and staunch supporters of the IWPC, hosted by Bishop Peace.
Repeatedly, they bring over 30 bus loads of women from Kaduna State to Abuja IWPC, each time it is
held.
Indeed at this time when ignorance is found to be the greatest killer of humanity, Dr. Peace’s
medical missions to Iddah is timely. Now, these Iddah women have come to the light of this
ailment.
Bishop Peace also had Christmas gifts for the Iddah women. She gave them gifts of Ankara
wrappers each and plastic buckets.
